Cookie Policy
Last updated 29 August 2026
This page lists what this site stores in your browser, what each item does, and how to remove it. We keep this list short deliberately: fewer things stored means less to explain and less to go wrong.
What we use
Strictly necessary
These are required for the site to function. They cannot be switched off without breaking sign-in, and under both the GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive they do not require consent.
__session, __client_uat
Set by Clerk
Keeps you signed in and identifies your session. Without these, every page load would sign you out.
Stored for: Session, or until you sign out
margsutech-theme
Set by This site (local storage, not a cookie)
Remembers whether you chose light or dark mode, so the page does not flash the wrong theme on load.
Stored for: Until you clear browser storage
__cf_bm and related
Set by Cloudflare
Distinguishes people from automated traffic, protecting the site from attack and abuse.
Stored for: Up to 30 minutes
Analytics
We use product analytics to understand which pages get used and where people run into difficulty. It is configured not to capture form contents, and we look at it in aggregate rather than to build a profile of any individual.
Analytics identifier
Set by PostHog
Distinguishes one visit from another so page views are not double counted. Not linked to your name or email unless you are signed in to the portal.
Stored for: Up to 12 months
What we do not use
We do not use advertising cookies, we do not run retargeting or conversion pixels from advertising networks, and we do not share browsing data with data brokers. There are no third-party trackers on this site beyond the processors listed above, each of which has a specific function.
Consent, stated plainly
Under the EU ePrivacy Directive, non-essential cookies require consent before they are set. We have not yet built a consent banner. Until we do, our analytics is configured to minimise what it stores, and you can block it entirely using the controls below or your browser's Do Not Track setting, which we honour.
We would rather state this gap than display a banner that records a choice it does not act on, which is common and worse than having none.
How to control cookies
Every major browser lets you view, block, and delete cookies and local storage. The relevant settings are usually under Privacy or Site Settings.
Blocking the strictly necessary items will prevent you signing in to the client portal, since there would be no way to keep you authenticated between page loads. Blocking analytics has no effect on how the site works for you.
Clearing the theme preference simply means the site follows your operating system's light or dark setting again.
Changes
If we add a cookie or change what an existing one does, we will update this page and the date at the top. If we add anything requiring consent, we will add a consent mechanism at the same time rather than afterwards.
